Maybe inspired by the time we live this year in, I remembered one of my old paintings and got this idea two days ago. I published it on the facebook like this:
I found today this my #artwork on #paper very, very much interesting and somehow very much actual > even I made it exactly 31 years ago in St. Gallen, Schweiz. The #title of this work in my native #language (#Croatian) is KRADLJIVAC, btw. "Thief"! I used to paint same motive also a bit later.
-
I remember, there were also one #painting with same motif (#acrylic on #canvas) sold on one humanitarian #action as Croatia was in the #war. The #buyer of same painting was one male medical doctor in Switzerland but from Bjelovar and he gave for the painting (if I still good remember) CHF 600.-
-
In Bjelovar I "lost" one year of my life. Because I went there in the school for #mathematic and #informatics > because they didn't want me to have in the #school for applied arts in Zagreb. But...
-
Back to this work here... Help me please to think, to interpret, to read so correct as just possible following #sings, btw. give me answers on following #questions:
- What do you think why THE THIEF run to left?
- What is your meaning to two #lines building an #angle on the left? Is this maybe just a #symbol for a direction (or something else), or for a border?
- why I had terrible necessity to paint with acrylic with #golden pigment? I had no #money at this time and #colors like this were more #expensive then "normal" colors.
- why THE THIEF run into the #darkness?
- why THE THIEF has no #legs and what is the meaning of the #spiral on the #limb to #run?
- why THE THIEF has in his #bag just this part of the #globe which you see here on the picture
- did I have, at the time of working on same artwork, the #potency to see far in the #future!?
-
Thank you so much for your attention and sending me your answers which I want to collect and prepare a short stories collection! Everyone who participate will be signed of course!
JUST TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE IT BETTER! Thank you.
All this I shared on my facebook fan page, profile site and in a few art groups. I wrote also following:
Dear all... Hope so much, you are in the best health and good mood! I know, I know, this is not always easy enough... But... :) My dear, please be nice and find time to click on this photo and read everything carefully... Hope all these informations & questions inspire you to send me your messages, answers... I would seriously like to make a short story based on our common work, common inputs, common energy frequencies and heart beats! If you like to participate you can leave your answers and meanings here as comments, or send me all to my privat address (ask me for it with a short message sending in my inbox). THANK YOU SO MUCH! Thanks also if you invite other creatives to be a part of this idea...
Today I found first comment, first contribution. In the Facebook Page of China Europe Design Culture Association (CEIDA) leaved Oktay Barkin his following message which I appreciate very, very much:
"The thief runs to the left because doing wrong. Because it means of left lose. If it's right; means to living, correct and true. Since turning left to means losing, it can be thought that the thief is doing something bad. The two lines forming an angle on the left can show the thief's escape direction. However, since these two lines cross, it may mean that the thief cannot escape. Direction of escape is blue. The blue should mean freedom. Maybe the thief is on the run to achieve freedom. The color of gold should mean that what stolen wealth is very valuable. Also, the thief is entirely of gold, which may indicate that the real gem is in the person himself. If the theft here is a material asset, the thief may be stealing in the dark and because he is in a difficult situation. Or this black background may symbolize that the thief has malicious intent. Their lack of feet may indicate the hope that the theft will disappear. The bag in his hand looks like the world and this thief as if it steals the whole world.
If it is a spiritual theft like stealing a person's heart;
This heart thief is as valuable as gold in her lover's eyes, but she escapes from her lover. At the same time, this heart thief takes the whole world of his beloved while going towards freedom (blue) and almost destroys his lover."
Oktay's participation motivate me very much and show me that I am on the right and good way with the possibility to move a few great, great international visual thinkers, designers, artists. I am grateful very much to Oktay who is, btw. > together with me < a CEIDA member! I cordially welcome you to visit Oktay's Homepage and learn about this great artist!
I hope now, also my next international artist colleagues will be willing to work on this project. You are free to interpret my artwork, answer on my questions (see above) or/and comment also Oktay's contribution as also contributions we'll collect hopefully very soon! THANKS.
Oh how great! Today I already received next contribution to the project written by the philosopher Olivera Mijušković Jurin. Here we go please:
"At a time when there's an almost Sisyphean struggle for truth and a view of a more secure existence, man has faced a new challenge - the struggle for his own consciousness.
In Cartesian terms - "I think so I exist", that thought today it has a new meaning. In the time of the coronavirus pandemic, there's not only the concern for global public health, but also the concern for survival of our pure mind. This survival symbolizes not only survival in the existential but in the essential sense. Sartre would've fertile ground for his work if he were alive today. Perhaps Camus would also write a sequel to The Myth of Sisyphus.
Prominent Croatian artist and artist of all those for whom the flag is art and open mind, Vlado Franjevic with his new project "Thief" and symbolically paints the present time. That thief is like a well-rooted tree, not a small one, but a hundred-year-old one. Its specificity isn't to steal anything, but a suitcase with our destinies and the entire planet. The symbolism is more than clear, and the artist wonders how far a deep-rooted tree can reach. They would say nowhere far. And then how to save that suitcase from his hands? We've to look for the answers in ourselves. I'm happy with every new project of Vlado and his wife Rajka, because they always ask again and again, provoke the mind and make us look for truth and sometimes we really find the answer."
Dear people, friends and colleagues, you make me very much happy. Tanks so much for this great feeling. Let's go, let's forward this project which started really good enough!
Short time after contribution written by Mrs Olivera I received one more. Please read here or bellow in comments:
"The THIEF I see in this painting is the burden that the man is carrying. It is very heavy that it it's twisting his hands backwards trying to pull him back into darkness but the man spirit is made out of gold he anxiously trying to go forward to the light where is the arrow pointing to, the man has the well and ability to go forward but he needs to leave it all behind. The mix of colors blue and the same golden color of the man shows how both are connected together. Somehow it shows us that if we make peace with our selves and let our pains and concerns behind we will be able to go forward again."
First time I met dear Rana Nsair and other lovely people in Amman 2006 as I participated in the 1st SymposioDesign there (please open and check this site, about... also with an interesting photo documentation). Rana was at that time a graphic design student at one privat University where we worked together and exhibited. In 2019 we met again! This time in Dubai. Rana came to the opening of the 1st EIPF poster exhibition where I also exhibited. Just a great moment. I am grateful very much and wish her and her family so much love, joy and health for ever!
Ah yes, come on before you go, please be nice to read also this short story about friendships and friends for ever (Rana & co.)! Thanks
Pianist, composer and music teacher Tatjana Vorel from Zagreb who made until now three compositions with my lyrics (two for one piano and Bariton and one for one female choir) leaved following message/interpretation on 14th of November 2020:
"My experience of a special image of a talented, versatile artist, Vlado Franjević, at first impression reminds me of the struggle between good and bad, of the conflict of positive and negative. Angel and gold color for me are light, and the thief flees into darkness because he feels, he has made a mistake. The two lines on the left, in my opinion, represent the touch between these two worlds. Definitely an image worthy of attention and encouraging reflections."
