I was asked by Stephan Sude as still we both were members of the Association of Professional Fine Artists of Liechtenstein to participate in that project. About two weeks later we met teachers of higher primary school from Triesen in Art Museum in Vaduz and introduced ourselves and our ideas. Liechtensteiner Vaterland, one of two daily newspapers in Liechtenstein published a short story about. Here on the photo on right site you can see from left to right in that Vaterland's issue: Roland Adlassnig (a participated artist from Vorarlberg in Austria), me, Brigitte Hasler (a participarted artist), Jens Dittmar (a participated artist and author), Stephan Sude (fine artist and mediator in this case), Claudia Reinisch (teacher and head of project) and Thomas Würbel (head of higher primary school in Triesen). On the photo isn't to see Arno Oehri, a participated artist.
For me everything started with the invitation to my contacts worldwide to sending me theirs contributions to PLUSMINUS project. On the end I got these very few contributions which should inspire the students.
After the first Appointment in the School, Teachers Svetlana Frick, Patricia Oehri, Katrin Walser and me (Vlado Franjević) met in our home and we discussed about next working steps. I got to know that there will be installed one BLOG on the school sites where all projects will be presented. Christian Wernig worked on that blog.
A day after I visited the dump of the Municipality Triesen and told to a worker there to help in the project. A bit after I met also Marcel Beck, the chief of the dump who also promissed to support my idea. He hold a short speech in the dump on 27th of september. I'm very much thankful...
On same day I went to Arno Oehri and got from him a DVD with two videos made by Arno and one by msyself. Videos were made in 2003 and are inspired with our staying in Yogyakarta in 2002 in the 1st part of the culture exchange programm Liechtenstein - Yogyakarta. In my video is to see also the first PLUSMINUS installation made in Yogyakarta.
I had a good day and found a sponsor who gave us acrylic colours which we will need for painting of our PLUS MINUS elements! I thank so much to the sponsor!
I was happy to know that Miss Xenia Matt who cary about home page of the school installed link to this page here. I'm very much thankful!
From the school we got infos with the names of students with who we will work. I'll work with 16 boys and girls!
One day before the start of our workshops was published this interview with the leader of projects, miss Claudia Reinisch in KUL, a montly culture magazine in
On my Facebook Page I presented a 14 minutes long video about our working time in Yogyakarta 2002 where I developed for first time PLUSMINUS project.
And here is one more thing which made me happy. I got a post card from Finnland as a contribution to our project.
I bought white basic color for our wooden elements and visited one more time the dump to see if everything is clear...
I wrote lyric for PLUSMINUS SONG and guys in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, made music to this lyric. Here bellow you can see and hear our common project! Here my
"this is a game about a minus and 'bout a plus
this is a game
this is a song about my known and unknown friends there outside
they need me I'm here
I need them they're everywhere
in every minus and every plus
I see and feel them far away over the oceans
this is a song for youth in liechtenstein
this is a song from many hearts from yogyakarta
a simply song for you and me
am glad that now we all know:
we can win this game"
Prof. Paula Fabinger-Orešković, a friend of my from Zagreb wrote in her letter about the song as follow:
Prof. Alida Sokolović from Bjelovar in Croatia a music teacher and friend of mine said about the song and video:
Sept 27th, first working day
In the school we had first a short presentations of the project and workshops. The workshops leader introduced themself to pupils and own ideas and working concepts.
I got the posibility introduce myself and my idea about PLUSMINUS in informatic room and pupils had possibility to ask me about the art, about my working untill now or similar. I got the feeling we trust each other more and more and it gives me power and, I am motivated. I saw already a few totaly nice ideas and scetches which the pupils will try to realized. I'm glad to go next steps trough the developping of our project!
Afternoon we met on the bus station and drove with the bus to the municipality dump where Marcel Beck hold his short speech about the natur protection.
From the wood which the people from the dump collected for us we made a lot of "minus elements" and from them we will make ALSO "plus elements"... We had a very good working afternoon out, in the natur. Compliments and thanks to everybody
In the school we have a crew which work on an ART WEEK BLOG. I am thankful for theirs support of this my site and PLUSMINUS SONG! Today in the midday pause I got a phone call from miss Dominique Sohm from the Radio L(iechtenstein) and she made an interview with me for tomorrow on same radio!
Sept. 28th 2010, second working day
Already very early morning, shortly after I brought my wife to the work, I brought the wooden pieces from the dump into the school underground parking. From there we carried it highly into the working room where it was later all day long industriously worked… We had short hectic moments, however with the daily final result I was more than glad.
Shortly after 10.00 o'clock we actually heard my interview at the radio.
After the time when I went home, I drove into the shop to buy the wool (instead of cord) - yellow, orange, multicolored blue, red.
I saw the boys and girls having theirs beautiful messages addressed to me
Many thanks to all for so much compliments and "plus minds"! (See, read and please comment bellow)!
I am somehow dog-tiredly this evening! I am pleased to see you tomorrow.
Sept., 29th, third working day
With large diligence we worked on the morning again in the working room. This time the pupils painted the intended plus and minus elements. There was genuinly variety of good ideas and as I said, now is finished with painting, I saw some nearly sad faces there. That moved me. In a short time we approached much and I felt ourselves a relatively large confidence. As a leader of workshop one cannot wish no more than what I evenly got. Before all, this story as a young man told me that he studied at his home my web page. He found so one work of mine which inspired him very much and so he started to paint the same. Bigger complement does not give at all! Thanks very much
In lunch time I made a phone call to Marcel Beck, the leader of the municipality dump. He said, like wished, we will get our 4 columns in the early afternoon. We need occupation and work. And the work is not always maybe what only makes fun…
The columns were supplied, as settled and planned. What made the boys again much pleased because they works again and again gladly with the wood and different machines! Because they were been versed in the best way in the working room, they were my and our big support.
Ramona and Arisa made very well our letter "T" at the external wall and it can be genuine seen!
In the schoolyard where our installation will be located, we had set up our four columns so that I could better explain and show, what we have still to do tomorrow.
We discharged still another short time in the computer science area where I told maybe too much and bored the youngs and girls.
30. September 2010, fourth working day and the Vernissage.
That was perhaps a final furioso! All wanted to see the finished art products. All worked further industriously. White plus and minus elements was first carried into the schoolyard and put on the ground. Columns was posed… A big excitement because of the wood wedges… We needed these, or evenly not?! But rather not… Multicolored wool were pulled and created thus an upward open cube!
The pupils have painted some miracle-preserve plus elements. And had themself on these skillfully and color-gladly expressed. On most elements can to be recognized that we had much plus energy in the group.
My wife Rajka and
me where very much happy to get the opportunity to have all pupils of group as guests in our showroom and
home. I showed them my paintings, they could freely ask me about and then they were delicate by Rajka and her cook arts… Some of boys and girls repeated
themselves with the words: "Your meal was genuine good!" Rajka received thanking these complements!
On this photo you see the building site wall and whereupon the word "Kunstzeit" = "Arttime" with 8 letters of equivalent creative groups of pupils were made and whereupon installed or painted. A completely multicolored and creative art time was allowed to us. And on this time we become surely remind for a long time… Thank you very much.
The exhibition opening was very well visited. Many parents came to admire the work their children, aks questions and discover the new. First held Thomas Würbel, the head of school, the
speech, welcomed all present people, thanked to sponsors, to cultural minister Dr. Aurelia Frick (who opened the exhibition), and also to Claudia Reinisch, the project chief,
After that, the pupils (from each Workshop group one person) spoke about their own experiences during the work time.
In this evening I saw many content faces. Children, their parents, treachers, artist colleagues… The art and creativity was generally and seriously discussed. I felt generally a
positive energy which all of us hopefully help little bit, the things better to understand: in each minus there is also at least a plus. A plus can exist only rarely without a minus.
In this sense, I terminate here for the moment my report and greet quite cordially all visitors of this page. Your comments of this working process and of contents of the information those are here to find, I would much, much estimate. Thanks many times in advance for it.
Both daily newspapers in Liechtenstein reported on 1st october 2010 to our Workshops.
