'Kushinda!' is a Wales-based ethically-run business promoting African artists, performers, and writers. It was established
in 2009 by owner Ceris Dien, who was inspired by her visits to Kenya and Uganda to find ways of bringing fine
quality contemporary African arts to the attention of the public online and in the UK. 'Kushinda!' specialises in quality, originality, and affordability for the customer and in working fairly
and collaboratively with arts creators to ensure a fair deal for all. Ceris occasionally collaborates with writers, artists and musicians from outside Africa, aiding in the translation of poetry
for her dear friend Vlado Franjevic, for instance, and instigating projects which connect such diverse people as Malaysian composer Kamal Sabran with Kenyan dance company Sawwa Dancers. She has also recently
begun work on 'Kushinda!Africa', a non-profit project based in Kenya, and is proud also of Kushinda!'s involvement with talented young people in Uganda in association with Social Enterprise
Africa's Butterfly Project.
On 20th March 'Kushinda!' event at the Blue Sky Cafe, in the Welsh university town of Bangor, Ceris read, among other things, 3 poems from Franjevic's 'Touch of Silence' in English, and two poems ,
'A Mobile Object' and "Poem About The Transformation', which she has herself translated into Welsh.
